I’m 15 years old and I have bad hair. I have really broken strands with terrible split ends. I have never dyed my hair besides highlights about five years ago. My hair is very long, about to my chest area, and I don’t want to chop off all of it just to fix the split ends. I feel like I have loss a significant amount of hair, my hair used to be thick and wavy naturally. Now its thin and breaks very easily. Its not wavy really anymore, it just looks semi-straight and damaged. I don’t use a blow dryer much but I do use a straightener daily and I believe this could be the reason my hair is so fragile. I use whatever shampoo my mom buys, currently I’m using Dove. My parents never take me to get a haircut, no matter how much I beg. I believe this could also be a large problem since my last haircut was a year ago. So my questions are:
1. Is there a product that will mend my split ends? If not, how much hair should I cut off to fix my problem? Even though I don’t want to lose any length ![]()
2. Is there a product that works great for straight hair to get a wavy look? Mousse, perhaps? I’ve never tried it. I don’t like the crunchy/oily feel/look gel give my hair.
3. Summer is coming up and I plan on stop using my straightener daily and just every now and then. Does chlorine do alot of damage? If so, how can I prevent this damage?
4. Is my hair loss a problem I should get checked out? Or is it normal?
5. How can I grow my hair faster? Certain vitamins I hear have helped, which ones?
And any other tips you know that will help!
Thank you very much!(:

you need to cut your hair. if not, it will only be growing damaged.

My friend had a similar problem a few years back her hair was down too her butt and she had very damaged hair with split ends and she had to cut a lot of hair off, but it mainly depends on how much big your split ends are if you have a lot You will have to cut quite a bit off about an inch above the previous split ends
For a new shampoo you should try Head And Shoulders or Pantine Pro-V they both are very good for trying to fix damaged hair.
I suggest not using your hair straightener everyday because that completely fries your hair and can be a major factor in your problem

Stop using the Straightener. That could be causing the problem, and your diet plays a big role in how healthy your hair will be. Chlorine is damaging to the hair and will dry it out. After you shampoo your hair and apply conditioner and rinse and towel dry. Go outside with your brush, bend over and start brushing your hair and shaking it (like your headbanging…lol) until it dries. Don’t use a blow dryer or any other hot iron on it. Brush your hair every night (100 strokes) from scalp to ends. This will stimulate your scalp and help distribute the natural oils and help your hair become healthier and grow faster. Try braiding your hair for something different. I would cut about 1/4 – 1/2 inch every month or so until the split ends are gone. Good Luck!
AND RAFAEL….That was a idiotic answer

for split ends you only need to cut about an inch to an inch and a half up from the split end.
and to stop the chlorine damage wet your hair before going in the pool. use clean water because your hair will absorb the clean water so theres no room for the chlorine water to be absorbed.

1. i wish, not any that i know of. but yeah, defineately get your hair cut, even like 2/3 inches is fine and then after than get it trimmed regularly, like every 4 months or so, it’s another huuuge reason you hair’s so damaged.
2. yea, mousse works pretty well. try some curl activator or something too or curly hair shampoo
3. yes, it does. if you’re really worried, wear a swim cap. but other than that, make sure you shower before getting into the water (like, comepletely soak your hair) and tie it back
4. it’s normal based on your conditions
5. umm vitamin e works i think. also, just make sure you eat right, that helps a lot
