For at least 6 months now I have been having several symptoms…Tired and fatigued all the time, memory and concentration loss, feeling “out there” and just a general not feeling well, loosing my hair (no bald spots yet but can definatly tell in the bathtub my hair is falling out) and very bad hearburn. I went to the Dr. last week and had several blood tests run, and they found my Vitamin D was low. It was about a 10. My dr. prescribed 1.25 mg of Vit. D pills to be taken once a week for 6 months. I go back for a follow up in 1 month. My question is..is this the right amount? And what cause this? I drink milk every night with dinner (yes it has Vit D.) and I am out in the sun every day for at least 20 minutes (due to work). So what is the deal, what should my Dr. be checking for? Normaly I have to specificaly request certain tests or suggest conditions to him for it to be considered. And when should I be tested again? When I’m done with supp.? Please help!

I got the same thing last year, my Vitamin D was very low. My doctor put me on the exact same dose as you 1.25 mg once a week. My Dr. didn’t check for anything else and then she had me get my levels checked again 3 months after I started taking the Vitamin D. I kept taking the weekly pills until just a couple weeks ago when the Dr. changed me to daily pills, because my levels are almost normal now. But your doctor may have a different plan so I would talk to the Dr. and see when you should get checked again and if there’s anything else you need to worry about.
