My brother has had serious dandruff most of his adult life. Not a lot of hair loss, just giant dry scalp–large flakes. Is there some connection between, let’s guess, the intake of zinc, or one of the alphabetical vitamins (A,B,C,D…etc) and dry scalp?
I’d love to help him, yet most of the homeopathic remedies or relievers call for 9 items 3 of which one does not even know what it is or where to get it. We are in the USA, so don’t have access to the items in Great Britian. Thanks for any thought you can put into this challenge–he’s about 61. Goofy answers may be clever, but thanks, no, he is not into shaving his head! Sorry!

does he have dry patches of skin on other parts of his body as well. If he does then he could be deficient in essential fatty oils and may need to eat more fish for the omega3 oils. Also he needs to be properly hydrated, make sure he is drinking plenty of water.
Has he been to a dermatologist to make sure he doesn’t have a fungus on his scalp that needs to be treated?
have him look for shampoos that treat dermatitis or psorasis of the scalp (neutrogena T/Gel scalp build up control or Denorex Extra Strength are examples). These are shampoos that have salicylic acid as their active ingredient rather than pine tar. He may have to wash his head with the dandruff shampoo every day until the dandruff is under controll and then cut back to once or twice a week to keep it from getting out of control again.

zinc lozenges, vitamin B6, vitamin B complex, vitamin E, kelp tablets, salmon oil, and primrose oil. Supplements considered important are beta-carotene and vitamin A. Lecithin is said to be helpful because it adds strength to the cells of the hair and scalp.
