The spot isn’t in a spot where his foot reaches so its not from scratching. It doesnt seem to bother him though its not sore but It seems to be getting darker and balder.

If he goes outside, which I am sure he does, he might have an allergic reaction to a certain type of weed, it is most likely bald because he has been gnawing on it. Here is a good example of what your dog may have. A vet will usually give you advice on what type of spray to put on him. My lab had the same prob.http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h…

You should have the vet do a skin scrape on the affected area. What you’re describing sounds like it could be a spot of localized demodectic mange (not to worry, this is not contagious to you or to other animals). If the scrape tests positive, your vet will tell you how to treat it so that it doesn’t spread all over your dog’s body (which is called generalized demodectic mange, and when it gets to this point it is far more in depth and difficult to treat).

It is probably mange or ringworm if the area is going bald. Both are contagous so make an appointment with your vet asap and get it checked out. In the meantime don;t be tempted to go touching it. If it’s ringworm you can get it too!
