Does Anyone Know What These Symptoms Could Be In My Kitten? – Sneezing And Bald Spots?
Posted by: in Hair Loss TipsI just got a new kitten last week, and the person I got her from had 4 cats that gave birth. One of their cats kittens would always die, from every litter it ever had, and one of the symptoms that those kittens would get, is they would start getting little bald patches. When my kitten first came home, she was perfectly fine. On the second day she was here, I noticed that she was sneezing every few minutes. A few days later, I noticed a little bald patch on one of her paws, and then I noticed a slightly bigger bald patch on her chest. She also has two smaller bald patches on two of her toes on her back feet (the two inner toes). Also, a few days ago, she woke up and couldn’t open one of her eyes. She had gunk in it, and we had to wipe it out for her. I think I saw what looked like worms in her butt. I also have a dog that she is always playing with. Somebody please let me know if they know what this could be, or if it is contagious, so I can keep her away from my dog!

I definitely thinks its allergies, and they’re so young that it’s deadly.
My families dog has the same issues, and there vet said to give him benedryl. Maybe if you have the mother take benedryl(hide it in lunch meat or wet food) then it pass through her milk to the babies. I would ask you vet first though.

Sneezing…respiratory infection.
Bald spots…ringworm
Both are very common in kittens.
Don’t freak out. Just go to a vet for treatments. They can give you information on ringworm and how to prevent it from spreading.

Your kitten may have ringworm.
Ringworm is not an actual worm, rather it is a fungus caused by moist warm areas. The vet will have some special shampoo for it. Be careful as ringworm is highly contagious, to humans as well as other pets.
I’d take the kitten to the vet for a proper diagnosis. She/he may also have a bad cold and a case of tape worms. Has the kitten had fleas?
A good thorough vet check is in order to make sure the kitten is healthy.
Good luck!

Well you definatly need to get your kitten to a vet , poor little thing,:(. and for the time being keep her away from your dog. it definatly sounds like she has worms and her bald spots could be anything from alopecia to just fleas( to check for fleas simply check her coat if she has little black bits of dirt she has probalbly got fleas these can be cleared up using flea treatments.) but it sounds mostly like ring worms she does need checking out.

If I were you I would take her to the Vets, and get this checked , it sounds like ringworm, if it is, it is very contagious, your dog can get it, and humans get it as well, she has worms so you need to get her a worming tablet ,and the her bald patches checked out ,and some ointment for her eyes,
I had 1 dogs and 6 cats, they all got ringworm, I got it as well and I passed it on to my daughter’s dog,at the time I didn’t know what it was, it’s not a worm, it is a fungal, It took me 6 months to clear it up , I had to keep the cats in and keep my dog on a lead, my cats were the worst, I had to dip them in sheep’s dip, in a bucket of warm water and it had be left on to dry on its own,I did this twice a week and they all had antibiotics, when it was nearly better they all had to bathed in a special shampoo,
the dog was the easiest , cats don’t like water and they fight you an scratch you,
The treatment cost me alot of money, I didn’t care as long as they got treated and better,I couldn’t go out with my friends, I didn’t want them to get it from me, you only have the kitten and your dog , you need to check yourself and family for patches
they are mostly round on Humans and have a pale grey/white colour scab and red under it, the scab looks like a sort of dandruff but bigger and they are sore and itch,I had to throw all the dog, cats and all my bedding away, and all the towels I used, the vet told me to burn it,thats what I did,
WEAR RUBBER GLOVES;
I just hope it’s not ringworm,
Good Luck

Okay…your kitten has some common problems. First, with the bald sports it is probably ringworm. This can be treated with a medicated shampoo from the vet and then with a topical cream like Lamisil or Lotrimine (used by people for athlete’s feet). It is contagious to both people and other cats/dogs. Wash your hands throughly after handling the kitten and keep it in one room of the house.
Secondly, the kiten may have a respritory infection. Again it is best to have a vet determine this and let you know how to treat it. Respritory infections that are left untreated can cause problems for the cat latter in life.
As for the worms…well all kittens have worms of some sort. you can get a dewormer at any pet store or have the kitten dewormed by your vet.

Get your kitten to the vet.
Worms can be easily treated and if you have seen then then your kitten is infested and needs treating quickly, treat your dog at the same time.
The bald patched could be due to allergies or many other things.

She has “Schmedrick’s” disease… Not fatal, but highly contagious.

Most people are giving you good advice – it sounds as if your kitten has some fairly common, non fatal problems. The bald patches could easily be ring worm and the worms around the bottom are more likely to be tape worms. A simple worming treatment for kittens (your vet will be able to give you this). Does the kitten have fleas? If she does she may have a slight allergy to them (very common) and this may be causing the hair loss – if you’re not sure make a small piece of kitchen towel damp and brush some of the kittens fur over it. If you notice small reddish brown marks on the paper then your kitten has fleas. Again your vet can recommend a good flea treatment product but Frontline is great and suitable for use in younger cats.
The sneezing and gunk in the eyes could be caused by a respiratory infection or may be the start of something more serious like cat flu. This definitely needs attention from a vet as could develop into something more serious if left untreated. Usually a short course of antibiotics is enough to clear it up.
It may also be worth asking your vet to test your kitten for Chlamydia. It is a very common problem in cats (especially where there are multiple litters in a house) and can cause some of the symptoms you’ve described (don’t worry it’s not like the human STD Chlamydia!)
I hope this helps and your kitten has a happy and healthy long life x

m dog has a big bald patch on his chest also because he scratches himself alot. i think he had fleas so maybe that might be why your cat has bald patches..x
