Why Does My Hamster Have A Bald Spot On The Left Side Of His Stomach?

i thought it was food so i just left it but
now he has a spot with no fur what is
wrong with him and he is a dwarf
hamster is it possible that maybe he
got bitten by a spider or something
like that and also i dont want to take
him to the vet because i dont know
if they are going to say hes ok or
if something is wrong with him
please help!!!

This is funny, I had the same exact problem with my hamster when I first got him. I thought he was loosing his fur. I got so upset and I showed him to my neighbor who is a vet. It turns out that on either side of a hamsters stomach they have balled patches called scent glans that can sometimes look like bug bites. Like dogs pee to mark their territory, both female and male hamsters will rub their scent glans on something to let other hamsters know it belongs to them (although male’s scent glans are more visible). It makes sense that you thought it was a spider bite thought, at one point I thought my hamster had fleas.
