Hair Loss, No Period And A Headache = Scared 17 Year Old?
Posted by: in Hair Loss CausesI’m a 17 year old girl and haven’t had a period since January. As well as this my hair has been falling out faster than normal and I have a bald patch emerging at the front of my head. I now have a constant headache which is making me tiered. I’ve been to the doctor and I have to wait for a blood test and then the results which is ages away! I’m very scared and nervous to what it could be, anyone have any ideas?

It is possible you could have PCOS, which is definitely treatable and very common. Why are your blood tests taking so long? Doctor’s offices should be able to have the results within 48 hours – at least that’s always been my experience. Try not to worry too much, but perhaps try calling your doctor’s office to find out exactly when you’ll have the results.

I’m sorry I don’t know, but please don’t panic it will only make you feel much worse. Be glad you’re getting medical attention, whatever it is it will all be solved soon! Life throws all kinds of things at you but you’ve just got to be calm and deal with it. If it was alarmingly serious your doctor would have sent you to A&E or put priority on your blood test. Have faith in them and please don’t start researching it on the internet, it can tell you you’ve got all kinds of diseases. I hope everything goes ok xx

Are you anorexic? Lack of body fat can cause you to stop menstruating, and the lack of nutrients can cause hair loss.
I’m not sure about the headaches. Alopecia is also another cause of hair loss, which is thought to be an auto immune problem. Hopefully your doctor will be able to help.
