In college last year, as a freshman, I was sooo stressed .. pulling all-nighters about once every few weeks, bad eating habits, etc.
It seemed like my hair was falling out. I had to clean my floor with duct tape & came up with handfuls of hair. It was pretty disgusting.
It’s not like my hair was noticeably thinner … maybe I just noticed it more cuz of the tiny room … and then it stopped during the summer.
And I don’t want to have to deal with that again THIS year.
Is there a solution? Like sleep more & eat more protein?

ABSOLUTELY.
It’s not stress, it’s pro-longed stress that damages your body. Everything is afflicted, some peoples nails get bad and start having depression or things. For you it sounds like your hair becomes unhealthy and/or thinner. Could be the skin on your head too.
Anyway, the healthier eating habits help, but stress is a depleting state for your body to be in for extended periods of time. Set time every week aside to just relax and enjoy yourself and if at all possible try to ease whatever stresses you most. In a college setting though that might be impossible.

yes…its normal to loose about 100-150 hair a day, there’s nothing wrong going on there…but you should eat more proteins, or take vitamins…you should try changing your shampoo and conditioner and start deep conditioning

Our hair goes through two main stages: Anagen (the growth phase) and telogen (the end phase, when it is about to fall out). Stress and other things can push hairs into the telogen phase, causing something called “telogen effluvium,” during which your hair can fall out in clumps. But be reassured that it will almost always come back over time. Eating healthily, sleeping enough, and stress reduction techniques should help.

No solution that i know of. Believe me, my hair falls out so bad when i am stressed. I always worry, because it seems like as much as i clean up and as much that comes out in the shower i will go bald, but it’s not to worry. I literally asked my doctor about it. She said it is perfectly normal. There are times when i am showering and run my fingers through my hair, an entire hand full comes out, ok not a hand full but i am sure you know. So anyways, it is completely normal and it is just going to happen, it does to everyone when they get that way, some just lose more than others.

Stress can definitely cause hair loss. My sister had bald spots on her head due to hair loss caused by stress.
I know it’s difficult but try to be more relaxed about things and don’t stress yourself out. Yoga and meditation are excellent ways to de-stress. B vites are beneficial, get more sleep and eat a balanced diet.
Good luck to you!
