my dog a little over one year old has been having some hair loss on his back legs which cleared up with a bath. He has always had dry skin and has been treated for yeast before but come to find out it is an allergy to laundry detergent. He still has dry skin though and has been losing hair around his mouth on the one side only and the area is red. He still has a little bit of red blotchy dots on his underarms in the front but nothing like it has been in the past. Could this possibly be mange or is it likely an allergy to something in the house?

You need to take him to the vet for a skin scrape to correctly identify if it is mange. His mouth issue could be the yeast recurring again. Does it smell bad? If so it could be yeast.I use Maleceb Pledglets (I may have spelled that wrong) for my dog’s recurring yeast infections. He gets it around the mouth and in between his toes. But without a skin scrape it is difficult to self diagnose. Mange can and will spread so I would go as soon as possible.

From the picture it doesnt look like mange, it looks more like an allergic reaction to something.
You should take your dog to the vet to find out for sure, though. They will be able to do a skin scraping to diagnose mange. But they should also be able to work out what exactly your dog is allergic to.
The swelling around his mouth might indicate that its something that hes eating, but many dogs also have allergies to grass seeds and fleas, so its good to get him checked out by your vet to pinpoint exactly what is causing the problem.
