I just got my new baby cockatiel just a couple of hours ago. My question is how long does it take for a cockatiels feathers to come in completely? She’s about 2 months old and has a small bald spot on the top of her head. She also has some little patches where there’s little feathers. Is this normal? Also she hasn’t really sang or talked since she came? Aren’t they suppose to be loud? Or is she just scared?

It’s normal since she’s still a little chick and she’s quiet because she’s scared. Make sure you give her a balanced diet, treats, plenty of toys to play with, and love. I have a cockatiel for nine years that we rescued he was so loud. I now have a conure and he is loud.

Well it takes a long time for their feathers to come in and you have to hand feed them in the beginning they might be scared they have to get used to their new house

There are mutations of cockatiels that are prone to bald spots on the top of their head that do not go away, lutinos for example (all yellow with orange cheeks). Only time will tell if the spot grows in.
As for her being quiet, that is very normal. She is in a new situation and is probably rather scared. When I first got my cockatiel he was quiet for almost a month and then suddenly I can’t get him to shut up. =P If you really do have a female cockatiel then they are know for being more quiet anyways. I hope you enjoy your new addition.
