I’m sixteen years old (sixteen, one month and 18 days to be precise) and my best friend noticed 2 grey hairs on me last week. A few months ago my mum noticed one too. And then a couple of days ago another was found, and it wasn’t just random fully grey hairs, it was actually at the root like it was growing grey.
I’m sixteen years old so surely I shouldn’t be going grey! And I’m a natural dark brunette so it’s not like I’m mistaking it for some light blonde hairs. As fair as I know there’s no genetic link between grey hair and age in women in my family, so I’m at a complete loss.
Help in any way, shape or form would be completely appreciated!

It’s probably just because of stress. Just lay low on the school work for a while and relax for a bit.
My sister was 15 & while working on her GCSE’s, she had a load of grey hairs (from the roots as well!)! Now she goes to college and finds it much easier, her grey hairs just faded away.
Don’t fret, it’s nothing to worry about.

What i would do is get some highlights, and then your hair well be fun. Why? because you well forget about the little showing of grays. I had the same challenge at 18 years old. Got me interested in color and cuts at a early age.
Your young and there are lots of fun coloring to do. Don’t worry and use good products and massage your scalp often.
happy hair to you…

It happens to some people early. I can’t imagine there’s much you can do besides color your hair often.

Don’t worry, no-one has to know. Just dye your hair and then nobody will know.

you’re fine. My son is 14 and has two grey hairs. I think it’s products that you put in your hair (perms, dyes etc)

My hair is naturally dark brown. I started going grey (one of two hairs like you) when I was 13. Now I have loads of grey hair. I asked my hair dresser why it’s going grey and she said it has nothing to do with how I have treated my hair…it’s hereditory. So blame your parents! Unfortunately you’re going grey early, but it happens to a lot of people don’t worry! A few hairs isn’t noticable unless you look really close anyway.
Check your dads side of the family…or even the men, just because your a woman doesn’t mean you can’t get traits from the men in your family!
