What Can I Do Legally If A Business Competitor Writes A Fraudulent Review In My Basic Yahoo Business Listing? ?
Posted by: in women hair lossThere is a wig salon/hair loss center in Fashion Island Newport Beach that is writing slanderous reviews, claiming to be client’s that have visited our salon. We have found that if we put in the owners name in the search engine box that there is a link that goes right to her (her name is “lisa” )reviews of our salon and other salons that are being slandered. I really need help to find out if there is legal recourse and to find out what Yahoo does when one of their advertisers illegally slanders on the Yahoo site and seach engines. I am a third generation wig designer and have dedicated my life to children, teen and women with illnesses. This could hurt someone that really needs our help. We do ALOT of Charity work and give away wigs were some wig salons may object because of loss of business…..Thank you all for your help. It is immedialty needed.

It’s a tough situation you’re faced with. I’m sorry to see this happen. One thing you can do is advertise the persons name and any contact information you have of them, especially in a forum like this. Maybe you’ll get enough people who will counterattack them for being idiots.
You could file with Consumer Business, also report them to Better Bus Burea. If they are using your business name, which hopefully is properly registered, you could go to the State legal office of whichever state you live in and also ask for consumer assistance. The Small Business world is also available.. I can’t remember the link, but if you google Small Business Rights, you should be able to come up with some links for legal action, if necessary. But, advertise their information here and see if it helps.. But keep your information private.

First you need to contact Yahoo and file a complaint against the other company. See what Yahoo will do.
You might have to get a lawyer and have him send a “cease and desist” letter to her demanding that she immediately stop her libel against you. If she does not, you will sue her for the libel and loss of business.
Most of the time when a person gets a letter from a lawyer they knock off their behavior. If not, sue her.

report it to yahoo. explain this on your site or listing that people have made false claims. call a lawyer, i think it’s either slander or libel. there should be something you can do, but just don’t sink to their level and do the same thing to them.

Report it to Yahoo fraud group. They’ll invoke legal investigation and if necessary, block the activity from taking place, especially if it’s taking place in their house.
