I hate to put my personal business on the internet but I need some advice! My fiance’ has 2 sons, one is biologically mine, the other is my step son. She has been on and off of the pill, the patch and Depo Provera for years. They all make her sick with irregular bleeding, nausea, yeast infections and hair loss. We don’t need anymore kids right now, though. I don’t mind the condoms but she hates them. And sometimes she doesn’t wanna use her diaphragm with spermicide either. What can I do ( besides pulling out) so that we don’t get pregnant again? And please, no disrespectful or sarcastic answers.

I’ve had the same problems as your fiance’ with hormonal birth control, Jamal. I use a spermicidal insert called Encare before sex. You can buy a 12 pack at Rite Aid for 10 dollars. I only have sex once or twice a week so it’s easier to plan. My man and I don’t use condoms. We just use the spermicide, which is 70% effective and pull out. I haven’t gotten pregnant in 3 years.

Honestly, she either needs to commit to you using the condom or to her using her diaphragm. The method you’re using right now is pretty unreliable. Since birth control makes her sick, those 2 things I mentioned are pretty much your only options other than her getting her tubes tied or you getting a vasectomy. :-/
Have a talk about it. Maybe her gynecologist can suggest something else more effective, but I doubt it.

All you can do is a) condom or b) surgery.
The rest is up to her really, but birth control shouldn’t make you that sick. Just google it. :)

How about an IUD? She can have a copper one inserted instead of the Merina (which is impregnated with a small amount of progesterone).
I’ve had an IUD for the past 10 years and it’s been fine.

Get your tubes tied? Have her get a similar procedure? That’s the only other option I see besides condoms if birth control doesn’t work.

Don’t want to be disrespectful, but don’t have sex. Really simple. It’s a lot easier than having to deal with all the things that might happen after having sex.

  7. i + i says:

VASECTOMY. It’s what we did many years ago and life couldn’t be better… no jellies, patches, rubbers, diaphragms, etc. necessary, just uninterrupted sex and no worries EVER.

let her tie her tubes….or refrain from intercourse…

  10. finnleca says:

just talk to each other and work it out

Pull-out is the most unreliable method of birth control there is. I’d say one of you needs to get “fixed” or she’s not really that concerned. Not liking condoms or a diaphragm seems to indicate she’s either not really interested in sex or doesn’t care of she gets pregnant again…she’s making excuses not to use birth control.
Also there are IUD/IUC options as well, but I’ll bet she wouldn’t like those either.
If I were you, I’d get a vasectomy or you’re quite likely to end up being a ‘daddy’ again real soon.
