My dad is bald and everyone in my moms family has hair. I want to know if there is a way to prevent/slow down hair loss. It probably is impossible to stop it and if it is then I will have to deal with it. I am 16 and I am losing hair on my sides. I use dandruff shampoo, which I heard worsens it. If it is impossible then are the hair restoration surgeries real? How does it work? How much does it cost? Will it be like the hair you had before? Is there a risk? Please do not post answers from a product you heard on a website. If you are going to post a product, put one that you have tried or one that you can prove with actual facts. Thanks

i have suffered from alopecia areata on and off for 4 years. It has been pretty good for the last year and it is now starting to fall out again. I dont think i can cope again if i lose a lot of hair again as it has taken ages to get my hair to a nice style. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The affected persons are generally in excellent health. This type of hair loss usually causes totally smooth, round patches about the size of a coin or larger. Although rare, it can result in complete loss of scalp and body hair. In most cases the hair regrows; however, dermatologists treat many people with this condition in order to make hair regrow faster.
Treatment includes:
-cortisone injections in the scalp where the hair loss occurred
-topical medications
-a special kind of light treatment
-pills
