Question by JLB: Has anyone experienced complete hair loss and taken thyroid medication to help?
I am trying to find a way to regrow my hair and was wondering if thyroid medication would help. I don’t want to take the shots in the scalp anymore or take steroids because they stop working as soon as the treatment is done.

Thyroid medication will help with the hair loss IF YOUR HAIR LOSS IS DUE TO A THYROID PROBLEM. Is it?

If you do not have an under active thyroid, taking thyroid medicine can give you serious problems… like a heart attack. And it won’t do anything for your hair.

Question by 0: Female hair thinning / loss – have you experienced it and how did you prevent/treat it?
I have a 2 year old son, and guess noticed hair loss after a few months of giving birth. However it seemed to grow back recently, but then started to fall out again.

Could this be stress? I am having a mineral analysis soon too.

I am taking magnesium, ginko bilbo and flax seed oil.

I have had similar experience but lucky I stopped losing hair ealier. I was so devastated even everybody told me it is normal because my hair has thinned out heaps and I had to try really hard to make my hair barely cover my scalp. I have tried many hair loss products but no luck at all. Eventually when it stopped, everything slowly backed to before.

I also think you should go to the doctor and check the thyroid. I have heard many times if the thyroid function is lower than normal, you tend to lose hair for longer period.

I am sure you will be all right……..

I am just over 4 months pregnant with my 3rd child and have noticed 3 bald spots on the top of my head. I have got 2 boys and with them my hair grew like mad but this time around,( i dont know what i am having yet ) i am going bald and my hair is thin and straggly as hell! Its bad enough that i am fat and grumpy but i dont wanna be bald, has this happened to anyone else?

yes! and i’ve been taking my vitamins completely normally.. also four months and hair is thinning. sometimes its normal.. just hormones.. if it gets TOO bad i would just go to the doc to make sure everythings okay. Maybe you’re having a girl! lol its an old wivestale that thinner stragglier hair means a girl. but we know how accurate those are! not so much! good luck to you!

I died my hair with a semi-permanent hair color that caused it to fall out..I know that it will take time to grow back, but will I be able to have long hair again? I also experienced some loss in my hair line along with some baby hairs, will those come back?

wow after just one dye your hair fell out? that is really weird. it usually takes dying your hair over and over again in a short amount of time to make it fall out. i am talking about some really excessive dying. I did my hair four times once in one day and it never fell out.
But dont worry! your hair is not gone forever, it will all grow back, just will take time like hair does to grow =]

My hair recently began falling out quite a bit, which I think may be related to changing my birth control pills. I had my thyroid tested and it was on the low end of normal. Any advice or other experiences?
