Question by CGH: What are the causes of Pug dogs having spotty hair loss?
I know that Pugs are not supposed to live outside, but we have no choice unfortunately. We did construct a very nice, large insulated, heated and air conditioned dog house for them. They get their shots, worm medicines, flea and tick prevention, good food and fresh water. They are played with and loved a great deal.
I recently shaved both pugs, like they do at the groomers, and I was saddened to see that the somewhat spotty coat I noticed on one of the pugs prior to shaving her was much worse looking than I had thought. The shaving revealed the extent of the patchy hair loss. I very rarely ever see them scratching themselves, so I don’t know if it hurts or is uncomfortable for her.
What would be some probably causes of this?

It could very possibly be an alergy even if nothing has changed sometime as in humans they can become allergic to something with age. I would have he/her checked by a vet.

I have been losing hair when I shampoo and condition my hair, and my hairdresser noticed this and said that it could be my thyroid. Is that true?

Question by mamaleona: Can anyone tell me if there is any connection to hair loss & novicane from having a tooth pulled?
A friend of mine has noticed that she is experiencing frequent hair loss. I checked on the internet for her and found among some of the causes can be due too, recent surgery or medicines etc. She had a toothe pulled just a few weeks ago, could there be any connection here? Could this be a cause to her hair loss?

Sure can!
The nervous system is interconnected, and so is the blood flow system. When the tooth was pulled it destroyed part of the system it was connected to. Loss of blood flow is involved and unfortunately it’s in the hair supply system.
No, it can’t be fixed. Technology doesn’t exist to do that.

My husband is a very handsome man, with thick hair. He’s starting to experience hair loss in the shower and when he combs his hair, and is getting serious anxiety about it. I know it’s hard for him, and I have told him that I will still find him attractive even if he does lose his hair one day. I’m wondering what I can do to show my support and hopefully make him feel a little better about it.
