Question by “Kh a a a a a n n” ! !: My Cat seems to be experiencing some hair loss around the opening to her ears? Any ideas why?
My 4 year old cat appears quite healthy, but I just noticed that she seems to have a little bit of hair loss around the opening to her ears. Could be from scratching, but I am not sure.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

She has been with the parakeet for about a year now and this is the first time she has lost her feathers on her head. They were there just a few days ago and now she is almost completely bald.

Bald spots appeared out of nowhere. Blood tests come up normal. The tips of her ears also bleed suddenly. Again, the vet is stumped.
Thanks to everyone for your answers. She is almost 3 years old and we have never changed her food, shampoo, or anything else that she uses regularly. She also had not received any shots or medicines when this started happening. It was very sudden and has gotten worse over the past 2 months.
Also, in contrast to “hot spots” these bald spots do not bother her. They are just completley dry, hairless spots. She does not lick, scratch, or pay attention to them in any way.

She is experiencing hair loss, itching and sores. She is not around other animals and she is flea free. She is usually bathed weekly, except in the winter. She is also kept inside the house and is let out to exercise and potty.

Hi i have 4cats which live indoors (we have lots of room). Recently they have developed bald patches at the base of thier tails. The skin isnt sore and they have no fleas as i treat them reguarly, ive never seen anything like it on cats before. Could it be mites? Im not sure if they can get it there. Any ideas what it could be?
