Question by Chris S: What are the symptoms of a thyroid problem. Is it just hair loss only or other signs?

Best answer:

Answer by Donni-Jay
I am one of these sufferers of a thyroid disorder, called; Hypothyroidism. The doctor took four years to correctly diagnose me!

Here are the symptoms for an over-active thyroid;

1: Putting on weight without eating any more, whilst having a healthy diet.

2: Feeling lethargic, no matter how much sleep you have had.

3: Mood swings.

4: Feeling cold.

5: Hair loss!

Untreated, a multi-nodular goitre can form in the thyroid, but the eyes do not become prominent as with the over-active thyroid condition.

The patient will feel more lethargic as the time goes by, and might be unable to have the strength to get out of bed.

—————————————————————–

If it is Hyperthyroidism, over-active thyroid;

1: Feeling hot even when the weather is cold.

2; Rushing about, not able to relax, tense.

3: Palpitations.

4: Feeling irritable all the time.

5: Unable to sleep.

If this condition is left untreated, the thyroid could swell, and so can the eyeballs, which is called; Goitre

A blood test can easily ascertain, which thyroid condition the patient has. Treatment is difficult to get the correct level of thyroid hormone needed in to regulate the body, but if you have a good specialist, called an; Endocrinologist it may take only 6 months to a year, depending on the severity of the case.

But, you will have to go back for regular three monthly blood tests to keep an eye on it. I found that if I had a weight gain, or managed to lose some weight, it affected the dosage I was on. So keep an eye on that too.

Question by Stankonia: Women only: I am considering a lace front wig from a hairloss place?
I had a consultation for hair loss at the Hair Club for Men and Women. I have diffuse hairloss on the top of my head. The consultant told me that the best option for me would be a lace-front wig, which would cover the thinning area. The piece would cost around $ 2000 to $ 4000. I talked to my sister about it and she recommended that I go to some of the local hair salons, where they do these types of wigs for a lot cheaper.

I would like to know if anyone has had a lace front wig done by the HC for Men and Women. If so, were you happy with your results??

Also, how would a lace front wig/weave be just as good from a regular salon, if it is cheaper? My sister said that her friend has had several, and they use human hair and she believes the process would be the same as it would be at the hair loss treatment center.

One of my concerns is making sure that the hair is a very close match to my own. I have a multi-ethnic/racial background and my hair is very soft with waves and the hair strands are very fine. When I shampoo and brush it back into a ponytail to let it dry naturally, the top can be very straight. It can also go into very nice corkscrew curls or waves when I air dry it, but it is also very easy to straighten…Therefore, I would need a hair texture that is very versatile and bouncy.

Hiya,

I’m sorry about your hairloss, it’s really distressing.

Firstly I think the best way forward is for me to be honest with you.

Frontals shouldn’t cost more than $ 500 at the very most.
It will be hard to mimick the exact texture of your hair as your natural hair isn’t identical to the majority of hair donors so go for the closest match to yours, if you spend less for a quality wig then you’ll be able to experiment.

If the company your using can match the hair texture then by all means the price is worth it, but if it’s just a close match then you can get frontals for less money.

I hope that helps,

Chaz

For hair transplantation to work, you still have to have some hair. They don’t transplant hair from another person into you. They cut hair with the follicle, usually from the back of your head (they do it in a way that you can’t tell where they have taken the hair follicles) and transplant it to the bald areas of your head. My step father had this done and it worked well. I knew he had had it done, so I could tell, and if you looked really closely you could see that the follicles were transplanted in nice neat little rows, which didn’t look natural, but again, you have to look very closely to notice. Most people you would encounter in casual circumstances wouldn’t notice because unless you closely examine your scalp, it looks natural. He had it done more than ten years ago, so perhaps they have improved methods they can use now that result in a more natural appearance. I’m from the US, so I don’t know of any doctors in your area who can do this, but I’m sure a google search would be a good place to start locating a doctor.
