What process is there to straighten my hair permanently and not kill me (literally)?

I am a Caucasian woman with tight curly hair and I want to relax it to the point that I can get emo sweep fringe bangs and not look ridiculous. I have had to live with tight, frizzy curly hair that will not do anything that I have tried. I know that it will not permanently stay straight and I will need to go back and touch up in 4-5 months after the process, I also can accept my hair to be a little wavy if it looks nice instead of it being completely pin straight, I can do that with the strightener I own which will take me less than 30 mins and not over 2 hours to do now. I have also read the side-effects and I do not want to have hair loss, perment damage, death, sickness. And my finally question is that if I decide to stop the treatments will my hair go back to the way it was to start off with after a few months? Please help me out because I cannot live with this hair anymore and I want sweep fringe bangs badly. thanks.

Unfortunately, your only two options are to use a straightener at home, or have it done at a salon, which only last about 3 months and needs to be redone every 3 months or so. As far as I know, they have not come out with the technology to go into each hair follicle on your head and straighten the root. (that is where your hair is curly or straight, in the root, below the skin surface).
