My first recommendation is to get a second opinion from another Doctor. I am an expert in hair loss, and I have no idea why a product from a horse’s mane would promote hair growth. For pattern baldness, it is best to stick with what we know works.

Finasteride is a prescription medication (sold as Propecia in the USA) that is a DHT blocker. DHT is the primary cause for male pattern baldness, and is just a hormone our bodies produce naturally (our bodies make more as we age). Finasteride is a fairly potent inhibitor of DHT, and stops hair loss in 9 out of 10 men. About 8 out of 10 men will even regrow hair. The downside is you need a prescription.

The second most effective hair loss treatment is minoxidil. Minoxidil is also a DHT inhibitor, but unlike finasteride, it is a topical solution that you put on your head. It is commonly sold as Rogaine, Kirkland, Provillus, or a generic brand. It works in about 8 out of 10 men, with few side effects. Minoxidil comes in two strengths 5% (best for men) and 2% (best for women).

The third most effective hair loss treatment is natural supplements or vitamins. You need to be careful with these, because a lot of people market them as miracle cures, and they are not. The most effective ones are saw palmetto, vitamin B6, and Biotin. They only work in about 6 out of 10 men, but are a good option if you do not want to take a prescription or mess with putting minoxidil on your head. You can buy them individually, or as a multi-vitamin.

The most important thing to remember in treating your hair loss is to start early. It is much easier to keep what you have!

Question by Johnathan S: Any good hair loss products?
My friend’s hair is going … going … not quite gone.

I heard propecia and provillis are pretty good, but want other’s opinions. Is Nioxin worth it, too?

Question by superfire27: Are there really any Hair loss products that do work?

Best answer:

Answer by Seth
Propecia is effective about forty two percent of the time, but you need a prescription from a doctor to get it. Rogaine works too, but it doesn’t help much if you have male-pattern baldness. Rogaine mostly helps if you have a bald spot on the back of your head. Rogaine was the first hair growth drug approved by the FDA.

Question by nikki G: what would hair loss products do to normal hair? would they make it grow faster?

Best answer:

Answer by Dr. Alice W
no !they will not ! but anyway – your hair will get more healthy and etc!

year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A – an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The ‘B’ vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also I used herbal treatment – Provillus (do not use Rogaine – it can cause unwanted hair growth elsewhere on the body)
It is a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

What do you think? Answer below!
