Question by Craigsgrandma07: I’ve recently started getting steroid shots in my back for chronic pain. My question is?
Do steroids cause hair loss? I’m a woman, in my 40’s who’s hair is thinning so much, it takes longer everyday to fix it just to cover up the thinning areas. I’ve already been through steroid treatments, and always will, so that’s not it.. Any help out there? Any remedies to make it thick again? Please, I’ve tried the egg, the mayo, and the baking soda, and none of it works. ?????

Question by Zohra: My question is about hair loss, I have been losing hair for about four years, any suggestions, female 34, thx?
There is no apparent reason for the hair loss. Stress was a major effect, but my stress levels have been reduced this past year. Just wondering if there are any natural remedies anyone is aware of to perhaps stop the hair loss. I had a lot of hair and so the past few years, it didn’t affect me so much, but now I am quite worried, I don’t put chemicals or color my hair. Thank you for your time and effort.

Answer by Bosley Medical
There are many factors for why someone experiences hair loss, ranging from diet, medications, natural hormones, pregnancy and childbirth, improper hair care and certain diseases. Each of these factors affects each individual differently. Additionally, while chemical treatments, pollution, hair-styling products and blow-drying have not been found to directly cause hair loss, they can dry and weaken hair, increasing breakage and perpetuating hair loss.

The lack of good blood circulation to the scalp may also contribute to hair loss. When the hair root is well supplied with blood it is stronger and less susceptible to the shrinking effects caused by hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Good blood flow strengthens and rejuvenates the small blood vessels in the scalp. Stronger blood vessels Increases the longevity of the hair follicles specially in thinning areas and encourages hair growth. Without good blood circulation to the head, hair follicles and roots can weaken and fall out.

Finally, you cannot fight the effects of aging. As you age, your hairs tend to break more easily, and hair follicles do not grow as much hair.

For immediate results, consider undergoing hair restoration. You can consult a medical professional, like those at Bosley Medical, for more information. These physicians are hair loss experts who can diagnose the specific cause of your case & recommend appropriate treatment options. The consults at Bosley Medical are conducted free of charge so at the very least you receive the information you need to move forward in addressing your problem.

Question by gol: A question about hair loss products, please help me, specially if you’re a hair stylist. Thank you?
Hello.. So I’,m a guy who is 25 and apparently I’m already losing my hair, man, this sucks! anyways, I’m trying to take measures as fast as possible in order to avoid losing my hair. Right now I’m taking zinc and biotin, and I think is working…about a month ago I tried eucalyptus oil, however, it didn’t work for me.. one night I applied eucalyptus oil to my hair and the very next day when I woke up I was shocked when I saw that I had lost several hairs from the left side of my head… anyways… I have also read about rogaine.. apparently such product is pretty good, however, I don’t like the fact that in order for such product to work you need to apply it to your hair for the rest of your life.. I’m very interested in natural products… today I went to a natural store and asked about hair loss products… they recommended me a shampoo which is made with herbs … it was a shampoo from China… I didn’t buy the shampoo… because first I would like to ask any hair expert a question…. if I use such shampoo, do I need to apply it to my hair for the rest of my life?

If it’s hereditary, there’s not much you can do. But you can try Hair, Skin, and Nail vitamins. I use that a lot and it seems to help. Can’t hurt, plus i’m sure it’s cheaper. Good luck.

Question by British Mr Dot: Question for transsexual women?
Hey there i’m a FTM and because of health reasons i have to stop testosterone treatment which means my body will once again produce female hormones.

During my time on testosterone i have experienced some diffuse hair loss and i was wondering for those transsexual women who also had hair loss prior to starting female hormones whether they experienced any regrowth of hairs or did their remaining hair thicken up any by using female hormones?

thanks

I myself cannot answer your question but I would like to refer you to a doctor Marcy Bower. She is located in Trinidad. There is also a movie that you should watch called Trinidad and that may help answer a lot of questions you might have.*
