Question by Joe: Reason for hair loss in Chi Mixes?
My first dog is a chi mix and he started losing hair on his forehead under his ears and then I noticed he was losing hair all over. Vet did some tests for thyroid and for bugs and he was fine so she decided it was breed pattern baldness. It actually is pretty symmetrical and it has stopped. I got a new dog about a month ago and she is also a chi mix. Now I feel like she’s starting to lose hair in the same locations. Could it be something they are ingesting? They often get into things they shouldn’t get into. Thank you.

stress, trauma, old age, malnutrition, possibly worms. get another vet.
also, they coud be alergic to something in ur home

Is 27 too early an age to lose hair? What can be done apart from rogaine? My hair have always been thin in texture but I had lot of them 2–3 yrs back. I lost a lot of them this year. And there are no diet issues involved. What are good conditioners to make them look healthy? I use rogaine. I use progaine volumizing shampoo. I want to know about conditioners and other products that can make it look good. I don’t like hair sprays.

I have been suffering from serious hair loss for the past few days. Since we are ttc, i have been taking folic acid for last 2 months
I have not used bc pill as contraceptive. So any other reason for hair loss?

No, but stopping the pill is. For around 3 months after you stop taking bc your hair falls out- it shortens the ‘hair life’ hence you tend to lose a lot of hair.

Type in ‘hair loss’ and ‘birth control pill’ in a search engine and read all about it.

Edit: um, I know it can be a symptoms of diabetes. Also, if you suffered stress 6 months ago, your hair falling out can be a result of that. It takes 6 months to occur though. Any extreme stress then?

Also, is the hair falling out in clumps or evenly throughout?
