Natural Ways to Prevent Hair Shedding

If you currently have TE or telogen effluvium, you probably already suspect that once hair shedding has started, it can be difficult to put the genie back in the bottle. And sometimes, the panicked things that we do to stop or slow the hair loss can make the problem even worse. So, it makes sense to prevent the shedding (or it’s recurrence) in the first place. This article will offer you tips to help you do just that.

Question by Pamela: What are the reasons for hair loss on a dog other than shedding?
My Chow/Spaniel mix is losing her hair in two different spots about two inches wide on her hind quarters. She has a slight skin irritation on the bald spots. I have seen her scratching in that area. She’s 18 months old. She has been spade and lives in a fenced in back yard with her four litter mates. She’s the only one with this kind of problem. I would like to find something to put on her that doesn’t sting or cause her any pain, if possible.

MANGE IS A POSSIBILITY, EEEKKKK. BUT ANY NON-STEROIDAL ANTI-ITCH CREAM WILL KEEP HER FROM ITCHING SO SEVERELY AND THE HAIR WILL PROBABLY GROW BACK.

Question by ???Easy Rider???: Horses shedding out bald after a longer than normal winter coat?
I have 5 horses and all but one is shedding out and they are bald under the winter coat. Some have some fine hairs others don’t. I have never seen this before has anyone else noticed this? We did have a problem with sucking lice in March which was another first for me and they have been successfully treated for that.

My horse some times gets bald spots after she sheds, but then it grows back. But the lice might have something to do with it. If this is the only thing that is different about them then i wouldnd be to concerned. If you are call a vet just to be safe.

This started about 3 months ago, I noticed he was biting his hips and about a week ago, its like a dry red spot and its loss some hair around it and now he’s getting more each day and biting them. Its like very dry skin. He’s also shedding like crazy. Is there some over the counter creams or spray I can get to get the dry skin to sooth it? There not flea bites either, he’s on frontline.
(((3 WEEKS AGO))) not 3 months
