Question by classof2010 :) : Iron affects testosterone which causes hair loss?
I’m seventeen going on eighteen. I have been having hair loss for a while, at first i thought i was “shedding” but i slowly realized that it should have stopped. I’ve had a history of low iron for a long time now.

So i got a letter in the mail from the hospital that says that my testosterone. it said that i could possible have PCOS, then i began to research causes of high testosterone could be caused by low iron levals. Correct me if im wrong.

The high testosterone levels associated with PCOS are not because of the low iron. PCOS is a very complicated disorder, it isn’t simply that you have some cysts. There is a whole syndrome that goes along with it. Obesity, dry skin, high blood sugars, bad menstrual cramping, etc. If you have heavy menstrual bleeding, which could be associated with PCOS as well, that is what is causing your low iron levels. You need to see a gyn who is really good at dealing with PCOS so you get the best outcome. You may also have low thyroid, which is another thing associated with PCOS, and that alone will contribute to low iron and definitely cause hair loss.

Question by Nick: Can low testosterone cause hair loss?
I’ve been taking Saw Palmetto because I heard that it lowers testosterone and thus prevents hair loss and acne. But recently, I’ve discovered that just like high testosterone, low testosterone can also cause hair loss. Not that I am losing my hair, but for some reason I wanted to make sure I have thick hair and clear skin. I’m 24 and my testosterone level is 378nb. Is that bad? So I guess my question is, does low or high testosterone cause hair loss?
oh my god, I do NOT need a wig! I have healthy freaking hair! If you do not know anything about testostreone, don’t freaking answer suggesting wigs on your stupid web sites!

Its never been proven.years ago people thought the opposite was true. But there it no sound research that has shown the former or the latter to be true.

Question by Lisa Klein: Female hair loss – high testosterone.. Please please help :( ?
I have been experiencing hair loss (30 year old female) for the past few months. Its mostly in my hairline in the front of my face, sides of my head and in the back of my head. My doctor sent me to check my cortisol and DHEA sulfite and testosterone. The first 2 came back within range but my testosterol was high and out of range. What is going to happen to me? Is this treatable? Please help me and tell me what is going. Thank you

My father’s side of my family are prone to balding, whilst my mother’s side is pretty good on hair.

Which side of my family do I take from when it comes to hair, and what can I do to prevent hair loss if it does happen to be from my father’s side?

Thanks in advance.
