Question by jesse3659: Does much use of hair products such as hair gel or wax bring hair thinning or hair loss?
I’m just a normal asian guy who use to use many hair products in my young age.

I cut my hair short now.

When i cut my hair short, it looks as if I have lost much hair. Hopefully I’m not going bald. Plus, I’m in high school.

I still have hair everywhere, but it just seem as if I have lost some quantity of hair.

Plus, when i have felt my hair and with someone else’s, my hair felt small or thin.

HELP ME.

No hair gel doesn’t cause hair loss.

Question by cooldude: How many different reasons are there for hair loss or thinning hair?
i know someone who im very close with that her hair is apparently beggining to thin and some of it comes out when you comb it and she got tested for a thyroid and its negative so were really afraid it might be cancer and im really scared
This girl is 17 she had a blood test for a couple things including cancer which came out negative along with the thyroid but shes going in for a sonogram to make sure in a couple days.

It could be their diet. If you are not eating all the nutrients your body needs or amount of calories your body needs, your hair will thin and fall out. Go to www.mypyramid.gov and figure how if they are eating correctly.

Question by MMOB: Anyone know products for women that truly help thinning hair?
I’m 40, have 3 kids (9, 6, 3) and have noticed over the last 3-5 years my hair falling out and beginning to thin on top. This is extremely distressing to me and I’m worried to death about it. My thyroid is in check and I have no health problems that cause hair loss, so I don’t know how to fix this problem. My ob said there’s really nothing anyone, male or female, can do about thinning hair. It’s just age, hormone, stress related. He said even Rogaine doesn’t work or else we wouldn’t still see bald men, much less women! Does anyone who has had this problem know any treatments that truly made a difference before I go spending tons of cash on a million products promising thicker hair. Mind you, I’m not bald or balding – I’ve just noticed a definite thinning on the crown of my head and have to carefully style my hair so that my scalp doesn’t show.

I went to the Dermatologist, and he did a biopsy of my head. That will find out the root problem with the hair not growing or not growing in some spots. In my case, it was determine that I had dead hair follicles that will not grow back because of years of putting perms, and hair dyes, in my hair.

Don’t waste your money, like I did going to places, that promise you thick and longer hair. There are none. I can tell you I waste, over $ 4,000 in some Laser Treatment that did not work.

Go to your Dermatologist, he or she will get to the root of the problem for you. There maybe some oil ointment, that you need a prescription for. It did not work for me, but you never know it may work for you. Depending on the problem.

Good Luck.

Question by Elle Marie: Hair is thinning at 25!? Ladies please help!!?
I noticed my hair is thinning. I went to see a dermatologist who thinks it’s alopecia. I had a lot of blood work to test for everything from vitamins to hormones. My doctor thinks it could be a multiple of reasons why it’s thinning. I don’t get my results in until a few weeks from now…but I’m on pins and needles figuring out why this is happening to me. And believe me I been doing hell of a lot of research on this!

I’m wondering if any of you ladies have had this similar problem? I was on Yaz for a while which worked perfect for me…then got off of it for 2 months…then got pregnant. After 4 months in my pregnancy, I miscarried. I nearly bled to death which got me rushed back in the hospital to have a d&c. After the miscarriage and surgery I noticed my hair changed and it looked crappy, I bled for a long time and didn’t get back on my yaz till a few months after when I noticed it really wasn’t working for me like it used to. On top of all this, I been under severe amounts of stress from numerous things going on in my personal life.

So with that said. I just wonder if it’s my birth control and the stress of things going on affecting my hair. They want me to take rogaine but the side effects are shedding of more hair and the hair growth isn’t permanent. They also want to put me on a pill that blocks hormones from affecting my skin…but I can’t have a baby for a long time which is devastating to hear. I’ve heard from many women that they have had no results on medications or OTC products, and stopping their BC just made the hair loss worse. *sigh*

Look, I’m really desperate for answers and some advice. I want to know if anyone has been through this and what you tried. I’m crying everyday from this and I just need some answers or just some comfort from others who experienced this. I need it for the time being. I won’t get my blood test results for a few weeks. :(
To Dan:
Dude, I’m asking ladies here…are you a lady? And why on earth would you hope it’s a receding hair line? lol! …..men.
To Blanca:
Nope, no meds. I started to take a pre-natal vitamin while on the yaz but that’s it. But indeed the stress part in my life is severe and I do need to take it down a notch. I will definitely try meditating. Thank you!!

As for medications, I was on a local anesthetic and meds during the miscarriage and following surgery, but that was back in November of last year.

Answer by Blanca
Are you on any other medications?

I’ve had the same hair problem and have lost so much hair that I have to sweep every day because it’s all over the floor.

A lot of medications have that side effect and stress doesn’t help either.

Try looking at the side effects of any medications you’re taking and spend an hour doing things that relax you so that you won’t be stressed.

Good luck finding a solution.
