Question by Sândrââ In The Sky With Diam?nds: Herbs And Vitamins Used For Hair Loss?
I was looking into saw palmetto for my hair loss since my testosterone levels are a little high. I don’t want to take birth control i’d like to try something natural and harmless.

Is there a combination of herbs that come in a pill form that i can take along with the saw palmetto or does that have to be taken alone ??

Thank You.

I’m not sure if i have pcos i’m need to go to the dr and get my ovaries checked. The blood test just came back saying i have a slightly overactive thyroid and high testosterone.

Have you tried natural remedies yet? Well, your in luck, I am a herbologist.
I have two options for you: Option #1 is purchasing shampoo with ylang ylang and/or Rosemary. It helps with blood circulation to the hair follicle.
Option#2 is a homemade shampoo made with essential oils. Buy some clarifying shampoo like Suave and add to it 3-4 drops Rosemary, 4 drops ylang ylang, 6 drops cedarwood and 6 drops sage. Shake well and use teice a day.

Question by brandoleigh: has anybody used the vitamin saw palmetto? is it good for hair loss???

Best answer:

Answer by Goldista
1.Saw palmetto is believed to have a similar mechanism of action to the anti-androgenic drug finasteride (Propecia), which has been used in low doses for hair loss.

2.Folic acid, biotin, vitamin B5, para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), and silica are supplements that may help maintain the color and thickness of hair.

3.Be sure to check your daily intake of zinc through supplements. Intake of 30 mg or higher for more than three months can induce a deficiency of copper, and low copper levels can result in hair loss.

4.The results of one research study suggest that the essential oils of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedarwood mixed with an oil and applied on the areas of hair loss may stimulate hair growth.

Hair Oil Recipe –
3 drops of thyme, 3 drops of lavender, 3 drops of rosemary, and 3 drops of cedarwood
1/8 cup of grapeseed oil, 1/8 cup of jojoba oil

Mix the ingredients together. Apply several drops of the mixture to areas of hair loss each night, massaging gently into scalp for 3-5 minutes. Store the oil tightly covered. Do not take internally or near the eye area.

5.In traditional Chinese medicine, hair loss is linked to kidney deficiency syndrome. Other symptoms of kidney deficiency are weakness and fatigue and low back weakness. Kidney energy is believed to naturally decline with age, but people with early or accelerated hair loss may have particularly weak kidney energy. Kidney tonics are usually recommended.

Question by mm: have you used evening primrose oil for hair loss from thyroid disease?
did it help? thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by MishMash
I have hypothyroidism – diagnosed 16 years. I have been on Evening Primrose Oil for 4-5 years as it helps with a progressive neurological condition I have. Once I started on thyroxine my hair became less sparse within a few years.

However the Evening Primrose Oil has made no change to the thickness of my hair; but it has helped to make it more shiny and less dry.

Question by Lindsey Parker: Has anyone used pumpkin seed oil for hair loss prevention?
I just wrote a short article for my website about pumpkin seed oil (taken orally in a supplement) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I have read a lot of positive remarks about using it to prevent hair loss, but wanted to know if it actually works. If you have a personal experience, I”d love to hear about it.

If you answer, can you also mention your gender and type of hair loss? Thank you so much!!!
I didn’t write if they personally work, just about what they contain and “are said” to do. Usually Omega-3’s are known to help hair loss and the pumpkin seed oil is a good source and it has other minerals that are in other hair vitamin/supplements.

I wanted someone who had used it to give their feedback or let me know of a forum or something, I didn’t find much info on it.
