Question by dexter011: What is good for hair loss and thin hair for young people? Are multi vitamins god or a waste of my money?

Answer by sum
Your hair is what you eat. If you eat correctly and drink enough water, 80 percent of your hair problems are solved. Eat a healthy and a balanced diet rich in protein and minerals. Oil your hair regularly, include a lot of milk, almonds and greens in your diet and drink at least 12 to 14 glasses of water daily. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

Because of my strict diet through the months, my hair has been thinning, noticed because of a lot of hair shedding. Since my hair loss is due to vitamin deficiency, if I eat lots of vitamins for my hair, such as b12- b6 and so on, and eat normally again. would my hair grow back??

Question by -: Hair loss because of malnutrition? Vitamins to help?
Hi, two years ago I was diagnosed with anorexia. Since then I’ve been going through the recovery process, but in August I relapsed. Since then I’ve lost a significant amount of weight. Of course I see the usual effects that I personally have experienced, but now for the first time my hair is thinning out.
I’ve always had really thick hair, but the past 3 or 4 days now there’s been a lot of hair loss to the point where it’s noticeable (to me at least). I’m really worried. I did take multi-vitamins, but lately they’ve been making me extremely sick (vomiting.. ew) so I stopped taking them about 2 weeks ago.

Are there any vitamins that helps with hair loss, but doesn’t cause hair growth else where (i.e: arms, face, back. I’m trying to avoid lanugo or avoid the start of it at least.) Or vitamins to strengthen hair? I’m willing to try herbal supplements and stuff, too.

But, aside from all that, I’m not entirely sure the hair loss/thinning is from my relapse. I also got my hair dyed 3 weeks ago, for the first time. There has been a like, grease build up and my hair is usually never greasy. Do you know if that could be it too? Or would it least be a possibility? I’m trying not to jump to malnutrition, since it never happened in the past, even when I was at a lower weight than I am now.

*I don’t think it needs to be said but please don’t tell me how bad anorexia is/that the only way to get it is to get help. I’m fully aware of the effects, and how bad it is for myself. Yes, I am looking for recovery again, but I’m not ready yet.

Question by qliphoth ballet.: Hair loss and Vitamins. WILL THIS WORK. ?
For almost a year I’ve been struggling with Alopecia Areata and S.D.
For six months I managed to slow the hair loss, then I got tired of doing
that because I didn’t want to keep constantly shampooing my scalp
with Ketaconazole for the rest of my life. A few days ago I was searching more on possibly stoping Alopecia and I found out that Biotin, Provillus, Saw Palmetto, and a few others Vitamins that successfully stopped
Alopecia. The first three seemed to stand out more than the rest the more and more I searched and that excited me.

So I was wondering if anyone here is suffering or suffered from it and tried any of those three, combined them with other things had any success and got their hair back or is currently using it for a a few months and have seen alot of new hair regrowth and it hasn’t fallen out PLEASE share because i’d really like to win this battle……and not be afraid of my favorite combs and brushes anymore. :)

Many of the Alopecia Aereata sufferers are worlds renown dermatologists! If there were a fruitful treatment they would probably use it. Unfortunately there is nothing curative so far! I am sorry to bring this to your attention but this is the truth.

Question by Clusterfunky: Can taking Prenatal Vitamins with Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo Help Stabilize Hair Loss?
I’ve been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a year and been losing a good amount of hair ever since I started taking it. My doctor is switching me to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, so I hope that might help. I’ve had many people (including one doctor) recommend taking prenatal vitamins, saying it’ll help. It’s to the point where I really don’t want to be on birth control anymore. What do you guys think?

Answer by sokokl
Yes, the prenatal vitamins along with the Ortho-Tricyclen could be of help with controlling the hair loss.

I take prenatal vitamins to help with my hair and I have never been pregnant before.

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see if it’s ok for you to try taking prenatal vitamins to help with your hair.
